Home Automation by David Karave - A family of Lifesize Metal Animatronic Crash Test Dummies talk to one another and react in mechanical seizures to the color code alerts on their home TV.
This project was created when a war test excercise dummy was borrowed from a defense department contractor in 2004. Moulds of the robot's body parts were created and a family of crash test dummy robots was poured in foundry aluminum.
Home Automation is a parody of the US color code threat alert system, and was seen at the Bonnaroo Festival before a crowd of 80,000 spectators, it was also seen at the recent Art Outside Festival with newly outfitted mechanical turning heads, and theatrical dialogue between family members. Life and Love TV said the show gives an eerie feeling "like watching mechanical ghosts... trapped inside"
